We have chosen the title "Denmark in Greece". Because that is exactly what we are: A small piece of Denmark located in Greece promoting Danish interests.
We have an ongoing dialogue with the Greek authorities on the most relevant topics and challenges facing Greece regarding the political situation, including the area of migration and Greece's role in the region. We discuss Danish viewpoints and we report to the Danish Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Copenhagen on Greece's positions regarding major topics within the EU agenda.
In relation to the economic situation, Greece has been through tough years but the situation now promise well for the future. The growth is increasing but unemployment remains a challenge. Especially among young people.
The Embassy naturally also makes a great effort to give a good impression of Denmark in Greece. Fortunately, it is not difficult since many of the Danish values also appeal to our Greek friends. Moreover, there is interest in the Danish social model with strong cooperation between the trade union movement, employers and the authorities, and hereof the good results which has come from it, such as “flexicurity” and co-operation on Denmark's response to the challenges of globalisation.
Finally, we are of course helping Danes living or staying in Greece. At the Embassy you can get assistance e.g. if you become ill or fall victim to a crime. The Embassy attaches great importance to always providing good service for all citizens.
